Fiberglass Pools

Medium to Medium‐High price point

Pros

  • Rapid installation.
  • Smooth feel on feet.
  • Hard for algae to grow on smooth surface, resists chemical build up.

Cons

  • Color selections are limited.
  • Sizes are often narrow and limited to what can be shipped on a semi truck.
  • Many disclaimers in limited warranty – process and stipulations can make warranty claims nearly impossible to fulfill.
  • Requires more care in installation as well as maintenance in “freeze/thaw” climates.
  • Due to frost lines and light weight structure (compared to concrete) this option is the most likely of all pool types to “float”. Builders often add on costs to divert run‐off water in an attempt to prevent this.
  • No deck support system, relying on settled backfill for supporting a perimeter concrete deck.
  • When cantilever decks are poured, the fiberglass bears the load of the concrete, potentially causing lateral ‘crackles’ to the finish, and in some cases full cracks.
